The short version
healmeal is two surfaces: the iPhone app and this website. They collect different things.
- The website tracks anonymous page views and Core Web Vitals through PostHog. No accounts, no personal information.
- The app stores your food log, weight history, and goals locally on your device. We sync to Apple Health only with your permission.
- When you use AI photo logging, the photo is sent to a third-party vision model to estimate macros. The photo is not retained after the response.
- Payments are handled by Apple. We do not see your card.
What the website collects
We use PostHog for product analytics. PostHog records anonymous events like the page you opened, the device class (mobile or desktop), and Core Web Vitals (page load, layout shift, input delay). We do not collect names, emails, IP addresses for targeting, or any identifier that ties a session to you.
We use one essential cookie to keep your preferences (such as dark or light mode if you change it). We do not use third-party advertising cookies on the website.
What the app collects
The app stores your food log, weight, and goals locally in an on-device database. This data does not leave your phone unless you explicitly enable iCloud or Apple Health sync. If you do, it is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple.
The full per-feature data declaration is on our App Store listing under the Privacy section. The disclosure on this page matches the one Apple shows you before download.
How AI photo logging works
When you take a photo to log a meal, the image is sent to a third-party AI vision model (OpenAI or Anthropic, depending on the request) to identify the dish and estimate macros. The image is sent over an encrypted connection, processed for the response, and not stored by the model provider for training.
We do not store the image on our servers. The image stays on your phone in the entry you saved, and you can delete it at any time.
Apple Health
If you turn on Apple Health sync, healmeal reads your step count and writes back nutrition and weight data. We never share Apple Health data with anyone. You can revoke access in iOS Settings under Health, Data Access and Devices.
Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA)
You can ask us to export, correct, or delete any data we hold about you. Because most data lives on your device, the deletion path is usually: delete the app, then write to us so we can clear any associated subscription records on our side.
Email hello@hachly.com to make a request. We respond within 30 days, usually within 3.
Children
healmeal is not directed at children under 13. The App Store rating is 9+. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe we have, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we update this page and the "last updated" date at the top. Material changes are flagged in the app on next launch.
